I disagreed with your opinion; nowadays rope access technicians are very intelligent and dedicated to gaining experience in rope access. and the good companies are giving better training also. and painting and glass cleaning are not rocket science; a couple of years is enough to get a master's in these trades. the only thing is that don't have sufficient Trade-Master L3 supervisors to train them. do not demotivate the rest of the rope access technicians.

It only works on vertical or nearly vertical lines as the weight of the device unlocks it to move freely along the rope. With a horizontal line you are dragging the device which activates the brake

I appreciate the honesty, I'm not going in to be a R.A. only as a career choice. But I do want the course as an advantage for my field of Vapor Blasting. If I have my rope access, I can get more jobs for my cleaning process. And less that I have to decline to the potential customer.

Wouldn't it be smarter to fix a temporary edge below to rest the stone plate and put your feet on it. It would go much easyer and safer. As long you are working alone somewhere in the woods, you can say you can do whatewer you want, but here you are working above a busy street, so there are many risks to avoid.

I am a tree cutter and rope access welder. Both jobs are demanding but tree work is definitely harder and more dangerous.

I was nervous as hell watching you get to that chimney.

I've worked with female tree climbers. Gender was never really an issue. Most of them had more skill and knowledge than most of us men. They fought a little harder with the big saws but they got it done every time.

My question is how do you get a job as a beginner in rope access without having certs or without having to spend a fortune on certifications? I climb trees because I do not need certs in my state to do that and cannot afford cell tower certifications which is what I really want to do.
